The November-December 2010 production for the Old Mill Theatre will be the popular and touching musical, Fiddler on The Roof. Directed by Neroli Burton who is well known in local theatre circles for her musical productions, she has previously directed for us, South Pacific and Aladdin, both sell-out seasons.
We are also delighted to say that Justin Freind will be Musical director for this show. Justin and Neroli have collaborated with us for South Pacific and Aladdin.
Auditionees will be required to sing a song, not necesarilly from the show, but one in a musicals style, ie no rock 'n roll. you may also be asked to read from sections of the script. auditions will firstly be on a one to one base and later paired/grouped with others. If you have a CV and a suitable photo please bring with you, but this is not essential in order to audition. As we are receiving a lot of interest in this show, please be prepared to 'hang about' as timings may run into each other! Let me know if there are times that are impossible for you and we will do our best to accomodate.
Auditions will run at 10 minute intervals from 1 pm. Please bring a CD or backing tape if you have one as Justin would prefer to listen to you rather than play, but he will do so if necessary. If you have a regular accompanist then by all means bring him/her along. We do have a piano and Justin will bring his keyboard, so we should be able to cover all situations! If auditioning for chorus then we will almost certainly group people together.
Please either call me (afternoons please as I work most mornings) or email for an audition time, and specify which part(s) you would like to audition for Many thanks to everyone who has already contacted me for your patience, the wonderful response is very pleasing but a bit overwhelming!!
Remember: first in.... 10 min intervals but please be prepared to hang around!I've already had about 10! That's why it's best to phone, then I can tell you if the time you want is OK

GROOVY BOOTS THEATRE is now accepting audition bookings for its October production of Jack Hibberd’s Dimboola.
Auditions will be held at the Blue Room Theatre, 53 James Street, Northbridge, from 10am-5pm, Sunday, July 25. To make a booking, please email groovyboots@hotmail.com with preferred times after reading the information below.
People who have already expressed an interest have been allocated a time and will be contacted direct.
It is expected each audition session will be 15-20 minutes. Audition forms can be downloaded HERE and filled out in advance.
Dimboola is set at an Australian country wedding where two families have a little too much to drink – and spontaneous songs, insults and fisticuffs are the result.
Written in 1969, it is said that more Australians have seen Dimboola than any other musical, comedy or play in the past 40 years.
Given the wedding setting, the audience is incorporated as if they’re part of the reception, also receiving a meal throughout the course of the evening.
Rehearsals will also be held at the Blue Room Theatre in Northbridge during August and September. Dimboola will be performed at the Victoria Park Bowling Club from October 8 to 23. There will be at least two weeknight rehearsals, as well as weekend rehearsals – something that should be kept in mind when auditioning, in terms of travel time and age of potential auditionees.
This will be a professional cooperative production. For those unfamiliar with co-op arrangements it means that, once all production costs are met, should there be any money remaining, it is split among the cast and crew. Sometimes it is also known as profit-share.
Some singing is required. However, this is not a musical. An ability to hold a tune is an asset but Horrie is the only character that needs to have a good singing voice, as he sings numerous songs in the show. Sheet music or accompanying music will not be required at the audition; we just want to hear sing a cappella at this stage – just like people did when they tried out for Australian Idol (no music accompanying them).

Inspired by the international bestseller of the same name, Children's Letters To God is a musical that follows the lives of five young friends as they voice beliefs, desires, questions and doubts common to all people but most disarmingly expressed by children. Sixteen tuneful songs and assorted scenes (some based on actual letters) explore timeless issues such as sibling rivalry, divorce, holidays, loss of a beloved pet, the trials of being unathletic and first love. This entertaining show carries a universal message which crosses the boundaries of age, geography, and religion.
As in the best-selling book, the musical is not specifically religious in nature. It's about kids and various events in their lives that lead them to ask a lot of questions -- some funny, some serious, some surprising.
- Audition Process -
Auditionee’s are required to fill in an Audition Form (available at the audition). Please arrive 30 mins prior to your scheduled audition time.
